How to create a Shopify bot that sells. Product advice, carts and cart recovery. No code, five minutes.

A Shopify sales bot recommends products, builds a cart and sends the shopper to checkout, then brings back people who left. With SimplyBoost you set this up in about 5 minutes without code: connect your store, give the agent the Shopping assistant role, switch on cart recovery, switch on the chat in your theme and walk through a shopper's journey yourself. Product search and carts come with the store connection, and cart recovery is off until you switch it on.

  • The Growth plan or higher for the Shopify store assistant. See pricing
  • For cart recovery, shoppers who chatted with you on Instagram or WhatsApp
  • Five minutes

The 5-minute path, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect your store

    1 minuteNo code

    In the app:Channels › Shopify

One button. If this is your first time, the Shopify chatbot guide shows the sign-up too.

    Do this

    1. 1Open Shopify in the left sidebar.
    2. 2Type your store address, for example yourshop.myshopify.com, and choose Connect with Shopify.
    3. 3Approve the app in Shopify. You return to SimplyBoost with product search, carts and order lookups switched on.

You should see: The Shopify page shows your store as connected.

  2. 2

Give the agent the Shopping assistant role

    1 minuteNo code

    In the app:Train › Optimize

The role sets how it talks about products.

    Do this

    1. 1Open Train, then Optimize, then Personality.
    2. 2Choose the Role Shopping assistant.
    3. 3Under Handles, keep Commerce switched on. It needs Shopify connected to this agent.
    4. 4Pick a Tone such as Friendly.

You should see: A Saved tag at the top.

  3. 3

    Switch on cart recovery

    1 minuteNo code

    In the app:Channels › Shopify

One message to shoppers who left their cart, and it is off until you say so.

    Do this

    1. 1On the Shopify page, find Cart recovery DM.
    2. 2Switch on Send recovery DMs.
    3. 3Set Wait after abandon (hours). It runs from 1 to 168 and the default is 4.
    4. 4Set Discount (%). 0 sends no code. Codes are single-use and limited to that customer.
    5. 5Choose Save.

You should see: Send recovery DMs switched on, and a saved confirmation.

Good to know: It works for shoppers who chatted with you on Instagram or WhatsApp. They get one DM on that channel, inside Meta's 24-hour window, and people who sent STOP are skipped.

  4. 4

Switch the chat on in your theme

    1 minuteNo code

No code. Shopify has a switch for it.

    Do this

    1. 1On the Shopify page in SimplyBoost, choose Add widget.
    2. 2In the Shopify theme editor, open App embeds.
    3. 3Switch on SimplyBoost Chat and choose Save.

You should see: The chat button on your live store.

  5. 5

    Walk through a shopper's journey

    1 minuteNo code

Ask for a product, add it, go to checkout.

    Do this

    1. 1On your store, ask for a product, for example Do you have a waterproof jacket in M?
    2. 2Tap Add to cart on the product card, or Know more for the details.
    3. 3Open the cart and tap Go to checkout. The cart link opens checkout with the chosen items.

You should see: A product card, a cart and a checkout with the right items.

Good to know: Answers about a product come from its live description, variants and stock, so they stay right when you change the product.

That is it. You are live.

Here is what you have now.

  • Product search, product cards and a cart with a checkout link in the chat
  • A shopping assistant voice that fits your shop
  • One message to shoppers who abandon a cart, with an optional single-use discount
  • Refunds and discounts that wait for you, or small ones you let run
  • A performance page that shows the revenue the bot started

Make it yours, now that you are live

None of this is needed to go live. Do one a day, or when a customer shows you what is missing. About 16 minutes in total, and no code in any of it.

  1. 1

    Tell it how you sell

    3 minutesNo codeOptional

    In the app:Train › Optimize

    Rules in your own words.

    Do this

    1. 1In Optimize, open Behaviour.
    2. 2Describe your shop in a few sentences under What does your business do?
    3. 3Add rules, for example: Always offer the size guide for shoe questions.
    4. 4Add hard limits under What should it never do?, for example: Never promise delivery dates.

You should see: Your rules saved.

  2. 2

    Add the knowledge that sells

    3 minutesNo codeOptional

In the app:Train › Knowledge Base

The things shoppers ask before they buy.

    Do this

    1. 1In Knowledge Base, drop your size guides, care instructions and bundle descriptions as PDFs or text.
    2. 2Switch on Source of truth on your shipping and returns policies.

    2. 2Write up to 3 starters of 60 characters each, such as Help me find a gift under €50.

    2. 2Connect Instagram with the Instagram guide, or WhatsApp with the WhatsApp guide.

    1. 1Open Shopify, then Settings, and find Auto-approve.
    2. 2Choose the largest refund and the largest percentage discount that may run without review.
    3. 3Optionally add an order age limit and a daily limit per customer.
    4. 4Know that cancelling an order and changing an address always need a person.

You should see: Your limits saved. Everything above them still waits for you.

  6. 6
