What is month-to-month billing?

Short answer

Month-to-month billing means you pay for a subscription one month at a time, with no annual contract, and can cancel before the next month starts. You keep your freedom, usually at a slightly higher monthly price than paying for a year upfront.

Also called: monthly billing, no annual contract, rolling monthly subscription.

How it works

You're charged at the start of each billing month. If you cancel, the subscription usually runs to the end of the month you've paid for and isn't renewed. Annual billing works the other way round: you commit for 12 months, often paying the full year upfront, in exchange for a discount.

Pricing pages often show the yearly price per month. ManyChat Pro, for example, is $39 a month on monthly billing and $29 a month billed yearly, paid for the full year upfront.

Monthly or yearly?

  • Monthly suits you when you're trying a tool, your volume changes with the seasons, or you may switch plans soon.
  • Yearly suits you when you've used the tool for a while and know which plan fits.
  • Either way, check whether you can change plans mid-term and whether any usage fees are still billed after you cancel.
