Eight AI customer support tools ranked for 2027, with the pricing model, the entry price and who each one suits. SimplyBoost comes first for most European businesses; here is why, and when the others are the better fit.

Choosing AI customer support software for 2027 comes down to four questions: does the AI answer from your own content, how is it billed, are the channels your customers use included, and where does the data live. Eight tools come up on almost every European shortlist. Here they are, ranked, with the prices each vendor published on 27 October 2026 and an honest line on who each one suits.
A disclosure first: I am an AI engineer at SimplyBoost, which is number one on this list. Every vendor name links to its own pricing page so you can check the figures yourself, and I say where the others are the better choice.
How we ranked the best AI customer support software
Four criteria, weighted equally. Answer quality from your own content, tested with the same twenty questions on each tool. Price predictability, measured by what a busy month with five people costs. Channel coverage, meaning website chat, WhatsApp and Instagram without add-ons. And data location, meaning hosting in Europe with a data processing agreement. We did not score logo walls or feature counts.
1. SimplyBoost: best AI customer support software for European businesses
SimplyBoost is an AI agent that answers from your website and documents on website chat, WhatsApp and Instagram, books appointments in Google Calendar, shows Shopify order status after an email check, rates leads Hot, Warm or Cold and hands over to Slack, email or a ticket in Zendesk, Freshdesk or Gorgias. It costs a flat €39, €89 or €169 a month for 500, 2,000 or 6,000 AI replies, with three agents, seats and every channel included. It is a Dutch company from Utrecht, hosted in Europe, with a data processing agreement.
It ranks first because it is the only tool here where the AI replies, the channels Europeans use, the booking and the handover are all in one flat euro price. Best for businesses of any size that want one agent on every channel at a price they can budget. See the AI customer service hub for the full picture.
2. Intercom Fin: best for large teams already on Intercom
Intercom's helpdesk costs $29 a seat a month on Essential, $85 on Advanced and $132 on Expert, with the Fin AI agent at $0.99 per outcome on every plan. Fin is a capable agent and Intercom is a complete support suite, which is why large teams that already live in it rarely leave. The price grows with every seat and every busy month, and WhatsApp and Instagram are add-ons. Best for support organisations of twenty people or more that want a full helpdesk and accept per-seat pricing. Our Intercom pricing page walks through a worked month.
3. Zendesk: best for ticket-heavy support organisations
Zendesk Suite Team costs $55 an agent a month on yearly billing, with five AI resolutions per agent included and resolution packs on top. Nothing matches its ticketing depth: macros, SLAs, routing across teams. For everyday questions on messaging channels it is more product than most businesses need, and the AI cost above the included resolutions is sold separately. Best for established support teams whose work is tickets. SimplyBoost opens Zendesk tickets on handover, so the two work together.
4. Trengo: best shared inbox for larger Dutch teams
Trengo, from Utrecht, is an omnichannel inbox with an AI agent called HelpMate. Boost costs €349 a month or €299 on yearly billing for ten users and 500 conversations, and every AI conversation adds €0.25 to €0.30. Best for teams of ten or more who answer most conversations themselves and want email, phone and messaging in one place. If AI should answer first, the per-conversation surcharge works against you. See the Trengo alternative page.
5. Watermelon: best Dutch option priced per conversation
Watermelon, also from Utrecht, has a free plan with 50 conversations and a Starter plan at €99 a month for 250, with one user and one AI agent included and €25 a month for each extra. It is hosted on Google Cloud in the EU. Best for Dutch teams that want to pay per conversation and have modest volume. Above 1,000 conversations a month you are off the published plans. See the Watermelon alternative page.
6. Chatbase: best for developers building a custom agent
Chatbase builds an agent from your content and connects to a long list of tools. Hobby costs $32 a month on yearly billing for 700 message credits with one agent and two members; extra credits cost $40 per 1,000, extra agents $300 a year. WhatsApp and Instagram are included. Best for technical teams that want to assemble their own stack. The credit model makes busy months hard to budget. See the Chatbase alternative page.
7. Tidio with Lyro: best for small shops starting with live chat
Tidio's Starter plan costs $24.17 a month on yearly billing with 100 billable conversations and ten seats, and the Lyro AI agent starts at $32.50 a month for 50 AI conversations. There is a free plan after the trial. Best for a small shop that wants a live chat widget today and AI later. Growth is sized up to 2,000 conversations, with Lyro usage on top. See the Tidio pricing page.
8. Crisp: best inbox for startups
Crisp, from France, prices per workspace: Mini at $45 a month with two seats, Essentials at $95, Plus at $295, each with a small allowance of AI credits for its agent Hugo. Best for startups that want a clean team inbox and modest AI. Best to check what the AI credits cover at your volume before relying on them.
How the top three compare on a busy month
Take five people and 2,000 conversations in a month, with the AI resolving most of them. On SimplyBoost that is the Growth plan at €89, flat. On Intercom it is five Essential seats at $145 plus about 1,400 Fin outcomes at $0.99, around $1,530. On Zendesk it is $275 for five Suite Team seats plus AI resolution packs above the 25 included. The gap is why flat pricing is the 2027 trend, and why SimplyBoost is first on this list.
Which AI customer support software should you choose in 2027?
If you want one AI agent on your website, WhatsApp and Instagram at a flat euro price, hosted in Europe, choose SimplyBoost and run the 7-day trial with last month's questions. If your organisation is a large helpdesk with SLAs and macros, shortlist Intercom and Zendesk and price a busy month honestly. If you are a developer who wants to build, look at Chatbase. If you mainly need a live chat widget for a small shop, Tidio gets you started. For a Dutch shared inbox with a large team, Trengo; for Dutch per-conversation pricing, Watermelon.

Tidio is a reasonable start for a very small shop that mainly wants live chat.

SimplyBoost at €39 a month with 500 AI replies, three agents, every channel and handover included is the most complete entry point. Tidio's free plan and Watermelon's 50 free conversations suit a business that wants to test with almost no volume.
Which AI customer support software is best for enterprise teams?
For large ticket operations with SLAs and macros, Zendesk and Intercom remain the reference.
